
Dr. Patricia Bath
Dr. Bath was an early pioneer of laser cataract surgery, commonly known as LASIK surgery.
Her many accolades include:
1. The first woman member of the Jules Stein Eye Institute.
2. First woman to lead a post-graduate training program in ophthalmology
3. First woman elected to the honorary staff of the UCLA Medical Center.
4. First Black person to serve as a resident in ophthalmology at New York University.
